Gypsy/country style violin player wanted for recording sessions, possible gigging - Think: Desire, Recent Nick Cave
I'm planning to head into the studio to make a second record in the New Year, and need a violin player able to play improvised gypsy/country style violin. Think Scarlet Rivera's playing on Bob Dylan's Desire, or Warren Ellis with Nick Cave and the Dirty Three. Your parts won't be written; you have free reign. The album will hopefully be rather stark; acoustic guitar, drums, bass, a smattering of piano. We'll do this very quick; raw and ragged. If I like your playing, I'll be willing to talk money, and, if you enjoy playing with us, hopefully you'll want to play some shows. The last album is not very indicative of this one, but if you'd like to hear it, look up Jim Clements; the album title was Kill Devil Hills (I'm not allowed to post URLs on this site). Comments from musicians include 'NJ took me away from musicians classifieds and now I'm jamming with rhodes players, sax players, guitarists I didn't know existed but live in my area. The mix is different every week but the motive is the same'.

Musicians wanted to form Folk Punk band in Scotland
I'm looking for musicians for reform my old Folk Punk band from Brighton. I'm now based in Dundee, looking to set the band up either locally or in Edinburgh.
I'm the electric violinist (hope that doesn't put your off). I may have found a lead vocalist who will work as a front man, in the vein of John Lydon/Iggy Pop, but don't know until we can start rehersing with a band. I'm still looking for drums/bass/guitar.
The tunes I have from 3 CD's worth of material are really a starting point. I want to add more technology into the set, perhaps a DJ, electronic percussion and loops, maybe even a brass section once things are moving, who knows. .
I'd like to get the band up and running pretty quickly - just depends on finding the musicians, get a new demo recorded, and get onto the Scottish/North England gig circuit asap. Would look to doing at least Fri and Sat night gigs every week, looking towards festivals in the UK and Europe - I'd love to do Glastonbury again! I do need the members to be up for it, musically sound. Vocals need to be male, but the rest can be either - or in between I guess. Age, doesn't matter if you're up for it. I'm 31.
As for me, I've played with a number of bands in and around the UK for the past 10 years. I've also got a 1. 4kw PA system for the smaller venues. . .
