I'm planning to head into the studio to make a second record in the New Year, and need a violin player able to play improvised gypsy/country style violin. Think Scarlet Rivera's playing on Bob Dylan's Desire, or Warren Ellis with Nick Cave and the Dirty Three. Your parts won't be written; you have free reign. The album will hopefully be rather stark; acoustic guitar, drums, bass, a smattering of piano. We'll do this very quick; raw and ragged. If I like your playing, I'll be willing to talk money, and, if you enjoy playing with us, hopefully you'll want to play some shows. The last album is not very indicative of this one, but if you'd like to hear it, look up Jim Clements; the album title was Kill Devil Hills (I'm not allowed to post URLs on this site). It exists so you can make more music, meet new musicians, improvise, or find work contacts. You make it happen by turning up - regularly or on a casual basis. Hire costs are shared.
Comments from musicians include 'NJ took me away from musicians classifieds and now I'm jamming with rhodes players, sax players, guitarists I didn't know existed but live in my area. The mix is different every week but the motive is the same'.

I´ve recently moved to london and am really interested in joining a band as an electric/acoustic violinist. I played in several bands in Ireland (also on bass) and would love to find people to play with here. I like all kinds of music from heavy metal to rock-indy-pop stuff. I arrange string parts for bands recording in cork and dublin and love jamming. I work in an office but am free evenings and weekends. In my last band i was more like a lead guitarist with loads of effects pedals and things like that to create al sorts of cool sounds. i´m 24 (nearly 25, eek)

• Warrington Irish Fleath 95’: Composition and recording of single for promotion of Warrington Fleadh 95' with Terry Waite. Conceptualised and created the ‘Warrington Fleadh’. A cross-denominational Irish Music Peace Festival launched as a result of the IRA Warrington bombings in 1993. Support gained from the national media, town council and peace charities leading to responsibility for recruiting and working with professional British and Irish recording artists; supported by both Irish and British Governments. Now an annual festival run by Warrington Borough Council.
